HxllUrbex
A downloadable urban map for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
HxllUrbex is a mysterious and immersive urban exploration app that turns your device into a portal for discovering abandoned places around Pendleton, Clemson, Central, Seneca, Anderson, and Walhalla in South Carolina. Built as a gamified map experience, you'll uncover hidden ruins, forgotten mills, haunted bridges, and eerie ghost towns—all while navigating a fog-shrouded world inspired by real-world locations.
Key Features:
- Interactive Map Exploration: Start with a locked-down map shrouded in fog. As you explore (virtually or with GPS enabled), unlock areas and reveal points of interest like the Stumphouse Tunnel, Cry Baby Bridge, or the ruins of Tanglewood Mansion.
- Gamification Elements: Earn XP by visiting spots, adding custom points, or completing daily quests. Level up to unlock new themes (like the purple-blue Voyager style), achievements (e.g., "Historian" for historical sites), and profile customizations. Track your streak, total distance traveled, and badges in a Steam-like profile UI.
- Customization Galore: Personalize your profile with avatars, bios, colors, fonts, and even custom marker emojis. Choose map themes from dark mode to satellite views.
- Points of Interest: Over 50 pre-loaded abandoned locations, each with details on risk level, interest tier, descriptions, and tags (e.g., "📸 Photo Spot" or "🚫 Trespassing"). Add your own discoveries via right-click.
- Safety and Fun Toggles: Enable fog for atmosphere, GPS for real-world tracking, town labels, or daily quests. Filter points by interest (Low/Medium/High) or tags like "Climbing Required" or "Artifacts".
- Admin Mode: Hidden dev menu (click the title 10 times) for testing XP, achievements, and more.
Whether you're an armchair explorer or hitting the trails, HxllUrbex blends real history with spooky vibes—perfect for urbex enthusiasts, history buffs, or anyone craving adventure. Built with Leaflet maps, Turf.js for geo-calcs, and particles for that eerie glow.
